I really ask myself how Take-Two constantly manages to loose so much money.

They'll have some good/ok results in this quarter because of PS4/XBO - GTA V, but their net loss for this fiscal year is - $76.772.000 currently.

*Last years net loss was - $186.034.000 for the same timeframe.
With GTA V how the fuck did that happen? There's something fundamentally wrong with that company if in their reprieve periods (Periods of significant sales of titles such as GTA) they still losing money.

This is going to be a fun race. The worldwide sales is going to be Sony domination but US and UK looks like its going to be a close race. They problems is that Microsofts price penetration can't go on for too long, they must have gone on a big minus this holiday with the different deals and bundles. But if Sony wins each month and Microsoft takes the holiday seasons it will almost go up. The interesting thing here is to see if Microsoft has gained any positive consumer awareness. Last year it was Sony domination but the different deals and bundles this year from Microsoft has been like a present to the consumers.

Sony will be lucky to claw back the gains MS will have made in Nov + Dec by Oct of next year. Maybe if they can cut the price around E3 it'd be more certain. But then again they have a great line up and Batman co marketing so who knows.

Sony knew since early November that the would not win this NPD and probably not the December one. IMHO, they don't care. Their worldwide lead is significant enough for them. They sold more than 800000 consoles in US this month which is good and they will certainly outsell the X1 worldwide for November and December. This war is a worldwide one people...

US is the biggest videogames market. how they don't care?

Why can't they? Sony have what for the holiday? Uncharted 4? They spread thier titles all over the year, when it come to holiday,
it will be forza6, halo 5, tomb raider maybe QB vs uncharted 4 and...weather patch for Bloodborne?
Not to mention MS have another COD and AC marketing deal, Sony don't have destiny to save them this time around.

What a shit post.

So the update is that CBOAT says the difference is only 7-10k. Honestly they both seem hard to believe. 400K is a BIG difference but 7-10K is so dissapointing for MS that I almost find that it impossible to believe as well.

Sony didn't lower their price. Next year they will. Unless MS keeps doing aggressive discounts all year, Sony will have the momentum advantage heading into the holidays thanks to spreading their games around, and with better deals it'll be a different playing field.

Don't think for a second that MS will win by default just by slashing prices. How did it go again, "it's a marathon, not a sprint"?

Yeah, but in fact its Sony that still is in lead by over 600K. So Microsoft is have to continue to claw back. Sony has a lineup next year that is ridiculous, starting from February till the end of the year that almost going to sell itself. And they will most likely have a price cut and some good bundles in the holiday season that will give Microsoft a good run. Its going to be a great marathon.

If not because the first 20 pages are worth keeping for the lulz, I'd almost recommend that everything from CBOAT's post up till before cream's chart be deleted to avoid any confusion.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
Microsoft is definitely taking a loss on the bundles, but $349 for the console should probably be a sustainable break-even price by now, no? Will be interesting to see if a $50 advantage alone will make a substantial difference. The crazy bundles went far beyond that.

All they really care about in first place is making money. Market lead sure is important as it gives You the chance (not guaranteed) to make even more money.

Market lead is meaningful more to execs for internal PR and enthusiasts like us.

Answer me this question:

How did the Xbox One sell 1200k units this month?

Getting down to the interesting stuff, why didn't anyone who picked up Smash or a Wii u this month for it also get another game? Any game at all? Wii u software sales Is like yelling into an cavern... All you get is hollow sounds of yourself yelling back and emptiness

I'm already weeping for Captain Toad. Only answer I can think of for your question is that the Wii U has just become a niche product to the super core of the Nintendo core audience which buys new Nintendo games at launch? Either that or the tail end of the Digital Deluxe promotion is doing gangbusters (doubtful). It's a mystery. (Everyone please go buy Captain Toad. It's adorable).

Also I'm still impressed with the evil within not a bad holdover, still in top 10 on ps4

It's amazing... good for them.

Shadows of morder too being greater than. 320, but that has a much more popular genre than TEW anyway. Regardless, yah new Ip!

Also promoted very heavily on BF, probably more consistently so than any other core title. But yeah, great staying power.

The toys to life accessories showed some nice growth this month, and there were quite a few digital SW promotions run on the various networks. More share likely shifted to digital, a trend we should continue to see.

I have to go do my release count comparable, but still fairly sure that the SW market decline overall still correlates closely to the decline in release count. But at the title level, interesting to see the top titles continue to take larger share, another trend that's been going on for, what, 5-7 years now?

If you can release a winning title, you're set. Mid tier titles definitely aren't coming back.

I assume this is standard practice for tracking down leaks; kind of like putting certain mistakes or watermarks on a script you circulate to tell which copy was let into the wild.

Why you never get a full number from anyone. Known to have happened in the past.

So we went from a 7k-10k difference to 400k. Well, there goes any credibility Cboat had out of window. That is a massive lead for Microsoft right there.

You are kinda correct. But the big prize in console wars does tend to be US and UK because they spend more on games per month vs. other countries that invest deeply in console gaming.

Congratulations Microsoft. They did very well. Still, what a hilarious thread. 40 pages of credulous yahoos whooping it up with drive by nonsense suddenly got blown the fuck out. All credibility wiped in an instant now and forever. Is there enough crow to go round?

Completely forgetting the fact that it was slashing their hardware and including pack ins to an almost 50% price difference that got them this months win.

MS could do this forever with their deep pockets, but they won't be allowed to by shareholders.

I'm sorry. This is just a bad post. Not responding to trash.

With ALL the games coming out early next year? I don't think 400 thousand is insurmountable at all considering MS doesn't have much by comparison until atleast Q2

I think they can slash it to a point that Sony can't aford to follow and stop there.

So you think MS will sacrifice 150-200$ per console to beat sony in one territory? Thats not how business works. Phil has to make profits and thats all that matters to investors. Not if they destroy Sony or if they're getting destroyed by Sony. As rich as MS is Xbox can't throw out money and sacrifice profit for the next 5-7 years.

A bunch of pages back CBOAT said the difference was 7-10K when originally someone else reported 400K. Conflicting stories yo. One of those stories is embarrassing for MS.

CBOAT just trolled. The 400k is confirmed. Wasn't really an update CBOAT just wanted to watch the world burn. In all honesty, I don't know why it wasn't perm.

That sounds terrible for gamers. Undercut the competition instead of competing, then bring back all the DRM and squeeze that lemon when there is no alternative.

I hope to god I'm wrong, but my fears about Microsofts intention for entering the gaming market were widely confirmed with their announcement of XB1. They showed their cards.

Competition between these two companies keep them honest and provides consumer surplus to us gamers as they vie for our wallets. But Microsoft doesn't really need our wallets short term, they'll take the losses and cover it from their other cash cows.

I do wonder how Sony can compete with that in the long term. Seems its just a matter of time, unless Microsoft pushes too far too soon again.

But that's how both the XB and XB360 worked as well as the PS3 ...

I understand your point it's strange to mention this now after we just left a lost leader generation where Sony wiped out it's PS2 and PS1 profits to simply stay competitive.
