Man who has history of racist behavior, had to issue many apologies says he'll learn from his mistakes...after what...the tenth time?

I promise to be a better person......not like those Nigg--

Sorry, it was a heated apology moment.
Right and I am sick of it he gets no more chances he never learns so why pretend like its different this time?

I had enough of it.

Ingrained in his vocabulary. He has to be actively filtering himself for it to not come out naturally. That's when you know someone is in the deep with a word.

I agree. Maybe it's a phrase he only says when gaming and "raging", but that's not something he just came up with in the heat of the moment. All of us (ok not all, a good portion) have suffered some gaming rage at one point, and we all probably have our "go to" rage phrases and we scream out when it happens. That phrase is definitely his.

It isn't clear when that video was snipped from i.e. pre or post apology (could have been in the same session where he said that word). You're actually giving the most charitable interpretation. The alternative is he's trying to make a joke about it in really bad taste.

Thats from last month apparantly.

TBH I'm more disappointed in YouTube, Twitch, PUBG. They are in the unique position to offer repercussions for him being a racist, but do nothing. Yet they will continue to let hate define their platforms.
They know once they punish one they will have to do the other and given all the personality defenders we have had from this that's going to hurt their platforms a lot.

Someone answer me this. If you had a contract with Disney and lost that job, would you not stop and reflect on how your behavior can affect job opportunities? If that wasn't the biggest wake-up call to change behavior, that person is irredeemable.

As a Black person, I know that even talking about racial grievances can get me perceived as playing the race card and militant and he we have a white person who has had every single opportunity given to him and he can't even stop and be grateful for that.

Little kids are his biggest audience and his apology didn't go far enough because he didn't explain what that racial slur meant, and how it's used to target Black people. When you have an audience made up of children it's up to you to be responsible. Kids are going to now think it's okay to use the n word and very quickly they will be held accountable by their parents or at school when they are suspended.

If this was his first issue with being scum, I would say okay...maybe he can learn. But someone like PDP who has millions of dollars can't even assemble a team to educate him on being decent? Come on now.

And just look at the dislike ratio of videos calling PDP out. That's who I have to deal with in my everyday life. It's a problem that has never been addressed because money has only been the bottom line. If advertisers start being even pickier about content, I feel bad for smaller youtubers but this type of behavior has to stop.

If you were an immature, developmentally stunted man child who had a legion of loyal cult like followers telling you at every second that you did nothing wrong and that it's the SJWs or the PC culture or the libruls simply unfairly out to get you, would you have any reason to change either? There's no real consequences for people like PDP. They just retreat further and further into their bubble.

The only part of this apology worth anything is the last half where he admits he's an idiot and should be better than this given his position.

Heat of the moment, it slipped out, etc. I'm so tired of this excuse and I'm tired of people who are okay with this.

Alas, I was only missing "that's not me, that's not who I am!" on my Racist Bingo card.

That prediction rang true.

This is the heart of what makes all of this ridiculous. White people telling others how to feel.

It's a lot more ridiculous than the so called "White people feeling offended for others" complaint I keep seeing from them on Twitter.

Pretty much. If I had bought it directly from Steam, I would ask for a refund on PUBG.

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.
What an idiot, he really didn't learn anything from the last times, but ofc his viewers will eat this apology up. It's just a waiting game until he slips up again.
His viewer base made the case that he done nothing wrong.

This is worse than eating it up, there's a significant base of people who honestly think that people getting angry over someone using a racial slur are the ones in the wrong.

It's legitimately sickening.

The thing that makes me think he's sincere is his tone. Other times he's apologized he's never broken character. Yes, he puts on an act in his videos that he feels his fans find entertaining. Even when have a real serious video, he still puts on a little pewdiepie show.

Yes, you can sit Back and dissect every little word. Or get mad he wouldn't apologize if no one cared about what he said. But reslity is, before he gets to those points, he talks about his own feelings on the word and the he ends by admitting to his many mistakes and how he basically admits himself its hypocritical to apologize but then keep making mistakes.

He's never done that before. Never admitted that his apologies mean nothing if keeps messing up. What matters for him personally is how he handles himself moving forward. After an apology like this, he's kinda put himself on a cliff barely holding on and he seems to recognize that.

I hope for his sake, he uses this as a moment to grow and become a better person.

But extremists on all side simply won't care.

A Personal Opinion About Apologies:
Apologies are good, but in themselves are not enough. If you apologize and then do the thing you apologized before again, or something similar, then the apology meant nothing, because you learned nothing.

So, for me, while the apology seemed reasonably sincere (opinions will vary on this), the question is what he will do in the future.

Honestly, this is the best way to put this response. He can just say "Sorry" like he did with the "DeathtoJews" stunt he pulled, but if he keeps pulling this shit, just apologizing isn't going to be enough. Mind you I don't even watch his videos to begin with, but the problem is that it can be because of how stupid Pews is that it could lead to something that will screw everyone else out in the long run.

Who's to say that if he tries to do something else stupid and gets taken to court over it? We could see a situation of "Company vs Pewdiepie" that sets up a new ruling and could regulate how things work out for now on. Should that happen, who knows what will happen to content creators, let alone anyone who wants to make videos.

As such, we need to see him grow the hell up, and take responsibility. Just because Disney isn't supporting him anymore doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants now (even if saying the N-word was a supposed slip of the tongue). Even more so, Youtube themselves needs to wake the hell up and take action too. If they are so paranoid about "making a site for all ages" or whatever they are planning, they probably will need to do something about the guy who has the most eyes on him too. Who's to say that we won't see an "FCC" or an "ESRB" come up because Pewdiepie wanted to "make people laugh."

Even if you say, "Well... other people do things much worse than him, and no one bats an eye about it!" that can be easily countered with "Well... How many people are watching those guys in comparison to the guy with over 57 million subscribers?"

Two points:

1) We're not re-litigating what he did, or if it was wrong in here. If you missed the hundred page thread, go to Twitter to express your opinion on that subject.

2) If your only response to someone is "Really?" or a gif, go away. If you aren't interested in actually discussing the topic, then don't post.

I don't understand fucking racists. They say racist shit and therefore are rightfully labeled a damn racist. There is no persecution or agenda here. What is so fucking hard to understand other than the fact that they are trying to normalize such behavior.

The reason why the outcry is so intense is because they always get away with it, they don't face any repercussion for their action. The racists in social media are truly the most protected class.

He could've doubled down on it and fed into the whole stupid "it's just a word" that I've seen many people throw on twitter to defend him. Just admitting it's not ok to say the word in a public video made me respect him more. Now to see if he actually learns from this.

YouTube is directly responsible for the hate speech. Why do they let him continue to spread his hate?

How do we stop this?

Youtube doesn't really care, if they could get away with hosting propaganda vids from ISIS they're not gonna be phased by white supremacy.

Maybe he was sincere. It doesn't matter if he never puts forth the effort and the actions to actually back it up, and if he's genuine then he should know that we're right to criticize him until he does so and should take the suggestions on what he needs to do better to heart

Fuck off with the both sides bullshit.

Not once did he admit that what he said was an act of racism. Not once did he say sorry for the act, instead he apologized for causing offence. That's not good enough.

As I stated before, he admits that this was the worst thing he could think of. His very worst conduct possible yet done it anyway. If he doesn't address why his "nuclear option" verbally is to use a racist epithet, his words mean nothing.

A cliff barely holding onto what? There were never going to be any repercussions for what he said.

If i had 57 million viewers that were all graciously willing to follow me over the cliff, I'd probably be ok not fucking with disney.

Of course. Most would have that mindset. Which is why people like myself don't see him actually being sorry for anything. I have a different moral compass than PDP who almost just said the n word again with a link someone else posted in this thread.

I hope people like boogie enjoy their revenue being stripped from them because that's what's going to happen because he doesn't care about anyone except himself and people so hungry for notoriety that they're sabotaging themselves.

I don't understand anyone saying it felt honest and sincere. It wasn't. That is a fact. It wasn't him thinking of the worst insult possible in a heated moment. It was him accidentally saying something he says off camera all the time, in front of a camera. In the longer video of the incident he literally says "sometimes I forget that I'm streaming."

That's what we saw. We didn't see him use a word for the first time ever, suddenly, out of anger. We saw him forget he was on camera.

So, the absolutely best case scenario is that he is a fucking idiot who thinks using that word is fine, as long as you aren't being filmed.

I mean, this is just another apology, and at this point, is not enough. Look at the comment section and cry, when your fans are excusing your behaviour or don't see anything really wrong with it, is clear that something is failling here.

In another video he's shown joking about almost saying the same word. And in another moment one of his gaming pals was arguing how the word has such a nice ring to it while he remained silent witch such disgraceful opinion happening on his stream.

Feels sorry because society says it's wrong, rather than undesrtanding the insiduous effects and real implications of it.

You can't stop it and money is why. PDP is ridiculously popular and with that regardless of whether one likes it or not he will get a lot more leeway than most.

YouTube will lose too much money themselves if they done that.

That you even think that there's extremists on all sides tells everything we need to know.
We've done this song and dance and before.
It's basically serial killer pattern at this point, the killer is changing his behavior little by little till he manages to get things right without any blowback.

I think he is afraid that he'll lose sponsors... Lol.

How about working like a normal person? Playing videogames while others watch it. I don't understand this world we are living in...

This is separate talk from all these Pdp talk, but LOL if you think that it's easy to get real money by just 'playing video games while others watch it' in YouTube, all the while cultivating and nurturing new audiences and subscribers...?

'Working like a normal person'.... What an outdated way of looking at things, really, sheesh.

In topic: it's kinda hard to believe he meant his apology, unfortunately :/

Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice,

. This shit is meaningless coming from a serial offender and also him repeating the word in the same session and claiming none of his viewers give a shit. He knows exactly what kind of people he attracts lol. Shut his garbage channel down.

You don't have to worry about second chances because this is his 4th/5th chance at this.

But yeah I'm sure he'll change for the better this time.

This is where my brain is frying. Sitting back and saying let's see what happens now is one thing... we were already long beyond the period of sitting back seeing what happened already. We saw what happened... again.

When adverstisers will flee en masse, Youtube will act.
Twitter is unsellable because they do nothing, Google can't really afford to not do anything or it might spill to their main business model.
When they will act though, it's gonna be fierce and I'll fucking love seeing the whole thing go up in flame from my seat.

When someone apologizes are we just expected to accept it on the basis that they said sorry? Because really, all your argument is is he "really meant it guys".

Okay and? Is that all you require when someone does somethig wrong?

Wow, he actually seemed really sincere compared to his precious apologies. I think he knows what he did was completely unacceptable, and I hope he learns from this and changes for the better.

This is my take on this too. I know how casually the word is used in Sweden too out of the medias attention so he could've pulled in those strings too, but he didn't.
Other than that. He really need a shave lol

to hound him over it or to ask for more proof of redemption.
