The Outer Worlds Next Gen Port/Remaster announced, titled “The Spacer’s Choice Edition”

You guys are trying way too hard. Not only does this likely have nothing to do with Microsoft, Obsidian has also just released Grounded and is releasing another game in December. Call me when Microsoft releases a 70 dollar remake of this game :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:
Bookmarked.

Didn't 2k publish this game? Or private division? Or one of the two, I could be wrong as I haven't played it.

If it's 2K I would probably expect them to try nickle & dime, like with GTA5.
Private Division did the original. This will likely be published by MS, no reason it wouldn't be.

Are we sure this isn't just what they are calling what would usually be called the "GOTY" edition where it's the same thing, just with all the DLC and patches included?
haven’t they already done that though? there‘s the Board Approved bundle that includes both the game + all the DLC

Wow I was going to try and beast through this since I skipped it back then and I got a nice window before GoW

Now i wanna wait and see what theycome with lol

That's just a bundle with the game and all the DLC, everything is separate SKU's.

This will most likely bring everything together into a single one.

If you can't see the issue you're most likely part of the problem.

Why are they making a remake?

Thread title seems like a bit of a fail since neither Obsidian nor the article even reference the update as a remake/remaster.

Likely a repackaging with updated settings for the new systems and the DLC content added in. The settings should be revisited for all games, I don't see why more devs don't do it. It just helps to increase the chances that more sales trickle in down the line.

I thought the main crew and some select important figures were designed well. I'll agree with you when it comes to random NPCs. You could tell that their hair tech just wasn't up to par and that's why we got the hairstyles that we did and it's a bit sad that was the case, because you could tell some characters were supposed to have longer hair but didn't.

It was very heavy handed with the capitalism part. I didn't get a sense of the heavy handed 'men suck, women rule, you're mansplaining' part. I'm not sure which moments you felt it was like that. Honestly from what I saw it was more the case that everyone(men, women, aliens, robots) kind of either sucked in personality, sucked in attitude, were so self absorbed, or were so corporatized that they were speaking ads to me, that it all became grating over time. I like capitalism from a theoretical standpoint, but I also understand how bad capitalism can get at times. I do think that some things like the Kylie Jenner pepsi commercial are ridiculously stupid, I do think that corporations, the rich, and multiple parts of different governments buying parts of the moon and mars when nothing has been built yet is quite a ridiculous concept, and I do think that we have reached moments like in The Truman Show where someone will literally advertise something to you in current times directly to your face.

That being said, I don't want to experience this level of ridiculousness over and over from a story standpoint. I get it, no government system is perfect. So when people tell me theirs is, I raise a high eyebrow of skepticism at that sentence because to me it means they've planted a deep flag and essentially wear their government like a sports jersey. Again, I don't want to constantly see this though, and that's where the game lost me at a certain point. After a while it became aggravating background noise to tune out, and that's why I think back about the game wondering if that was a deeper level of making a big point.

I am all for questioning capitalism and creating choices. Hell, Disco Elysium partially covered that topic alongside numerous other concepts.

The quality of writing here was non-existent. It was heavy handed twitter-level rhetoric. From the butch female designs, most men being “evil” and/or idiots, the women being the saviors, etc - this is shit I expect from Era fan fiction. Not a AAA gaming release.

Excellent news. Outer Worlds was unfairly shit on and is an excellent game.

For fans of the game, there is a 'secret' mode that you can play the game in. If you follow the narrative that your character is a murderous psychopath (the Prof/Dr talks about this often) you can kill every character in the game.

The skill tree is even set up to play as a solo maniac. Try it, it's great fun gunning down everyone you come across, especially when you don't have to listen to NPCs asking you for shit. Just gun those fuckers down

How was people's reception for this game?

I thought it was kinda shit, surprised of it getting remastered.
If you like Fallout 1, 2 or New Vegas it's a good, but short game.

Worried about that Spacer's Choice name though, in the game's lore that brand is trash...

Yeah, I pretty much felt the same way. I played it for about an hour or so, and just felt like it was... lacking in a lot of ways. I ended up putting it down and never picking it back up. I was surprised to see a positive reception that existed here and there. Especially since the game just felt so incredibly bland to me.

So private division is doing this remaster? Guess it will be in gamepass for free since Microsoft owns obsidian now but not the rights to the first game. They’re publishing the second outworlds which is next gen only so definitely looking forward to that as the first game is really good.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

If its a single SKU with the DLC, that's good if its on game pass cause they only do the base games and not DLC, single SKU means whatever they put on GP will/should have the DLC included in it.

EDMIX EDMIX don't turn into the next Ezekiel_ Ezekiel_ :messenger_downcast_sweat:

If they're blowing resources on it I think it's a little dumb. If it's just a rebrand with all the DLC then it is what it is.

Either way I have both DLCs, and a 60fps version of the game. I certainly won't be buying it.

I'm so confused, where did you see this being pushed onto the player in the game? Everything from what I've played seemed like an equal level of male to female/good to bad ratio, all the way from leadership to your own companions. The very first male character you come across after starting the game is a good decent guy and the very first female character you come across is an idiot who just assumes the ship that's parked there is yours without checking for any sort of verification. There was even a male companion they could have made into a wimpy guy but the writers decided not to.

I can understand if the meme screenshot of women with short hairstyles above presents the game's image as a certain way to you, but the actual game when playing it is evidence to the opposite. Again, there were quite a few feminine characters in the game. The actual problem is they didn't trust whatever hair physics system they had in place so they went against long hair options. This game has it's issues and it's good to point them out, but there's no need to paint a narrative on it.

Maybe they'll remaster these things into something remotely attractive.

Seriously though II don't see much point in a remaster of this game. If this is just the main game and DLC combined in a single SKU, I might give it a go. Other than the trash character designs, the game had just a sprinkle of poo on what was otherwise a fun game. I would like to run through the expansions since I haven't yet, and this would take care of that.

The deep lols.

This is a waste of resources everyone, now we know why Avowed won't come out.

remaster bad, new game good.

I mean sure but, that is generally what a remaster is.

So clearly this is a new trend, we never saw them remaster anything in the past before, like ever /s

Sounds more like what they used to call the GOTY edition. Though I guess a remaster does kind of fit since the new consoles are in there. Hardy har har. These should just be patched for free IMO, but it's all about those $.

At least its not a remake. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Gmanlives said it best at this "it's great at being good" you'll finish it once, have fun with the build diversity and then completely forget everything.

Anywho, it was fun for 15 bucks.

The Non Mandatory Corporate Sponsored Bundle Exist already
