THE WORDS! They'll drift away without the _!
:lol

Whoever managed to make out all those cars is incredible. Although they could just be making it up, since it is somewhat hard to prove otherwise.

I thought that was a 747? where did I get that impression from?

If it's the same one that's been on the Top Gear track then yeah, it's a 747

*edit* Yep, it's the same one, you can tell by the twin engines. It's the same one used in Casino Royale.

No one knows man.
Well, I'm assuming there are at least some good estimate of how fast they could even print and ship it, but I was thinking mid -december at the fastest like Firewire said.

nah, quite a few look right enough... no real reason, why it couldn't be done... :p

Maybe a dumb question. Does "going gold" mean the master or whatever stamping thing is ready? I guess it's coated with gold? Or what.

Every disc is coated with a 0.1mm gold leaf, for better laser bounce. Then, the data is carefully burned onto each disc.

Happy to help.

Yeah it mean the master copy is finished and stamping has begun. I've always assumed the phrase had to do with casting gold like a blacksmith would into it's mold. The disc is being 'cast'....or whatever.

It means the game already sold 1 million copies

Many times the price goes down and it also means they might make a sequel

Pay attention to how Kaz is mimicking the gesture made by M. Night Shyamalan in the often-posted picture of him.

This tells me that there never actually was a GT5 game and all these videos and demos have been an elaborate hoax.

THE GAME WAS DEAD THE WHOLE TIME

Supplying the first run of retail discs won't take that long, the big question regarding the release date is how Sony plans to market it. Ad space, print materials and other forms of advertising would be hell to secure right now due to xmass being right around the corner. I would imagine that Sony was well prepared for this though.

No, but you can choose a different physics mode that makes it easier.
Yeah standard physics + strong active steering + automatic stability control makes Prologue feel pretty arcade-ish, not to mention all the tuning you can do to each individual car. I'm sure there'll be even more options in GT5.

no denial is the new confirmed?

I dunno... been waiting since launch of my 60gb for this game... so hard to throw the confetti.

Well actually they do confirm it in that statement. They say that they'll be providing more details on the gold master very soon. I was just saying that they didn't deny it as they generally do just that when asked about stuff that wasn't supposed to be made public (although I guess Kaz got the greenlight to mention it at SEMA).

they'll post saying "The game hasn't gone gold. Sorry for the troubles. We'll talk about release date soon. Please be patient"

It is slanting way more on the positive side. So please don't spin in the other way.

What if they aren't going to set a new release date. What if they're just pressing discs and shipping whenever. Maybe we'll have it next week!
:D

Yeah right.

Does this game have an arcade mode where it controls like burnout.

No. The arcade mode won't suit what you're looking for neither. Unless something has drastically changed.

Will they have enough time to stamp enough discs to meet demand? Possibility of a January 2010 release date because of this?

Here's a nice list for those that want to see the confirmed cars for GT5 so far

Credit to GT-R_EMOKID from GTplanet.

It includes a picture of each car also.
Pretty amazing that they've culled all that information just from trailers and demo videos and whatnot. Soon, my sweet Daihatsu Midget, you will be mine.

Amazon's still got the DFGT for a 1/3rd off - it may even come bundled with GT5P if the first review is to be believed.

I really think Kinect forced their hand. 500 million of advertising, even though it has nothing to do with GT & Sony, ist still 500 million of advertising. Its going to plug all the decent spots, run more often, and just have a serious presence. I'm not sure if Sony is willing to compete with the blitz of advertising for it, when they can just wait one month after the hype dies down, to get GT5's advertising rolling out pretty well. Although, I can't ever really remember GT having a serious ad presence on TV? I just always knew of it after the first one, and it was always something to look forward to. I imagine sony is just giving Microsoft its room to do kinect, and bring their games/branding up early next year. Not sure if it makes much sense, but we are looking at 3 delayed PS3 games out of no where right? LBP/Socom/GT5?

There's an "arcade" mode in Prologue, but it doesn't change any of the underlying physics/assists. It's just a mode for you to pick a track and either race, time trial, or drift on it. If you want the handling to feel more arcade-y, you have to adjust other settings, which can also apply to any mode.

Beats me how they're doing it in GT5, though I doubt they're changing it up too much.

this is great news and epic news too.

and i just realised something too... as mad as this feels to finally be gold (and looking worth that massive wait) how mad is DNF going to feel?

The arcade is not going to be anywhere near Burnout paradaise mode. It's basically playing GT5 at the arcades. all the cars you have unlocked in the career modes will be available, but the 'driving' doesn't change much.
