No they've been reporting this on the news all morning.
Sure they're reporting it this morning, but I don't know that it was in the plans yesterday. I guess he wants to get that extra 0.01% a stop at this point will gain.

Yeah...that bastard is here:

Cleveland news:

Candidates wrap up weary campaign season

COLUMBUS -- President Bush landed in Columbus Tuesday morning for a last-minute visit to the state.

His campaign says he’s headed somewhere in the city, but won’t say where.
WKYC

I hope he comes to the campus so I can boo him.

^^^ (JJS) Fair enough, though I thought I heard it last night as well. It may have been late though.

He's going to DC after the stop here though.

edit->cynical: it's probably to fuck traffic up and keep people from getting to the (already long from reports) lines at the polls

Seattle doesn't have any exciting measures this time around... well, maybe the Monorail recall. Too bad I'm now in Renton.

+1 Kerry, Gregoire, Patty "I <3 Osama" Murray (bleeding heart here)
+1 Reed (So I can claim to be all hardcore, voting a split-ticket... when I'm really just following local paper reccomendations)
-1 Anything put up by Tim Eyman; why do people still listen to this embezlling asshole?
-1 Monorail recall (in spirit)

We should make an initiative to exile Eyman from the state.

+1 Kerry -- Me
+1 Kerry -- Girlfriend

I just voted! Queens, NY here. The whole process took like 20 minutes--the drive from my house, the parking, no wait to get into the booth, and bam. First time voter, 20 years old here. The whole thing's cool until you reach the crabby lady.

I feel weird cause my dad helped me figure out the machine as a voted. But hey, that's why I'm a firsttime voter right...

Mecklenburg County uses push-button voting. Toggle selections, then hit the big red encased button to cast.

Huh, didn't know that. Alright, just change my quote to "North Carolina's reliable mechanical voting system".

My "I Voted" sticker got me 35% off everything at the campus bookstore, so I'm now armed with Art Spiegelman's In The Shadow Of No Towers. Hurrah for democracy!

Is that anything like the Steel Batallion controller?

Edit:
We should make an initiative to exile Eyman from the state.
What sweet justice that would be.

Let me know how that book is, Fnord.

'course, I can't get any sticker, as I voted absentee (and only have the booklet).

I still say that Election Day (just for Presidential years) should be a national holiday, people have problems waiting in 2-3 hour lines when they have to go back to work.

Hell, move it to a Monday or Friday and give everyone a long weekend.

Georgia, huh?

I feel bad for you. Maybe one day you'll learn you needn't be ashamed of that slightly sexual crush on that guy you see on your bus every day that makes you wake up some mornings with an erection.

From sitting on my ass watching tv, to participating in democracy, to sitting on my ass watching tv, about 15 minutes when I voted a week ago.

I agree as well. Hell if I had it my way we would have election weekend from 6 to 6 Sat till Monday night.

I saw Spiegelman speak at Duke University not too long ago, where he spoke at length about his 9/11 experiences, how he coped with the help of turn of the century newspaper comics, and his resulting work. It was one helluva talk. I've got a really rough audio recording of it at home; if anyone is intersted in hearing it, send me a PM and I'll try to dig it up.

New York State law allows employees to take up to two hours out of their day to vote, either at the beginning or end and not be penalized in any way for it.

So, I still get paid for the time I took to vote this morning before coming in. w00t.

Lansing, MI

+1 Kerry
+1 Bob Alexander (8th Congressional)
No on Prop 1 (Casino voting rights bill that sadly would screw the lotto too.)
No on Prop 2 (Marriage amendment that would screw over civil unions and common law couples.)
Yes on Prop 3 (Renew millage for disabled and senior transport.)

Nothing to interesting to mention vis a vis local politicians.

Don't forget guys (especially in non-swing states) to re-elect the greatest President who ever lived:

Palmer-banner.jpg

What, you think I was referring to Bush? :)

That speech he gave near the end of season 2 when they were taking control and giving it to the VP... "The Trial of David Palmer" as it's referred to... amazing stuff. Best... President... EVAR! :)

(Seriously though... voting for Kerry, but wearing my Palmer for President shirt today...)

Haysbert was on one show and he mentioned he gets asked at least 10 times a day why he doesn't run for President. He said he was at Target once in the garden section looking at some stacking lawn chairs and trying to carry out a few and some woman came up to him shocked that he was doing it by himself and she asked why his secret service agents weren't helping him carry them, then looked around and asked where they were. He just smiled and told her he gave them the night off.

Go back and see if they have "Anubis Gates" or "Last Call" by Tim Powers OR "In the Garden of Iden" by Kage Baker! GO! :)

Please say you're joking. This is too fucking important to be cool and over it. [/mini soapbox]

Ahem. Anyway. Took me 15 minutes, door to door. I'm in the East Village of NYC and my polling station is a block away.

That's funny, because last time I checked YOU COULD WRITE IN A CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT, EVEN ON A TOUCHSCREEN MACHINE THAT IS RIGGED TO GIVE BUSH THE STATE ANYHOW.

Cool - so long as you aren't full of shit that's fine :) If you were going to write someone in (especially when there is a Libertarian candidate on the ballot), you should have just written yourself in. Would have been far more entertaining - and about as useful.

Northern Indiana, voting at my old elementary school.

+1 Nader (written in)
+1 Bayh
+1 Kernan (-1 Mitch "Budget Man" Daniels)

Wasn't a whole lot of choice in the other elections, especially as they got smaller. Any title with the word "County" in it had nothing but Republicans and Write-In as choices. Same for my state representative and senator.

Interesting note: I didn't realize the Libertarian liutenant gubernatorial was Elaine Badnarik; mother of presidential candidate Michael Badnarik. Hell, I didn't even know Michael Badnarik was from Indiana. o_O

No crowds or anything, but my grandpa said things were a bit busier earlier in the day.

Libertarians are just Republicans that want to smoke dope.

And I've had five friends call me today to tell me that they've written me in for various offices(GA Supreme Court, Tax Commissioner, US Senator, etc).

He expects Bush to carry FL with a percentage of 3% vs. .01% of 2000...hmmm.

You should've voted for Badnarik -- he's from Hammond. :)

I've got Anubis Gates sitting on my towering to-read pile, and I've added the Baker book to my want list, where "Last Call" is already patiently waiting. Thanks for the recommendations!

Meanwhile, on the off-chance anyone else out there has election day book buying deals waiting for them, I can give a provisional (i.e. not finished with it just yet) recommendation for "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell" by Susanna Clarke. It's also a good day to buy Cordwainer Smith reissues; you can't go wrong with either his complete short stories or his only novel, Norstrilia.

+1 Kerry via absentee. My peeps back in central PA say they think Kerry's got it wrapped up there, which makes me happy.
