IMO, it is a lot riskier to trust a nation to "warm up" to someone than the risk of "disillusionment" especially during smear season.

I really think this article misses the point of the outrage against ABC. Its not so much because they were biased again Obama and asked him more questions, but because the questions themselves were stupid for both candidates

i would put it differently. in this instance. he acted just like any other politician. yup, even hillary and mccain.. proves he isnt infallible, but it doesnt completely negate everything he is trying to do.

APF's point is that those other politicians haven't portrayed themselves as new-school politics above it all changey-hope land. So it's fine when they do it, more or less. It's how some people who hate Republicans may actually admire their unity in the relentless pursuit of evil whereas Dems kinda waffle and bullshit and capitulate.

What APF doesn't realize is that none of this matters anymore. Bush's legacy is an Obama presidency.

Nothing Obama does will ever please APF so why bother even engaging in futile conversation. It's one thing to have solid arguments, but it's another to mention that Obama is the "Messiah" every other post by APF.

Now this is an issue that should be addressed by Obama for some clarification on his part. Obama's thing about the gun questionnaire thing is another one he has to own up to or provide evidence of something else. With respect to Hillary, there's no reasonable argument that can be made to legitimize her candidacy for president. I was willing to give her a past earlier in the campaign season but she's shown time and time again that she will employ every method, no matter how divisive or damaging to the party to stroke her ego by giving her a shot at the presidency.

McCain is not better. In fact he is the worst. I believe he's willing to disown every value, opinion, or strong belief he had to get to the presidency while hiding behind the image given to him by the press as a "maverick". After Kerry got blasted for being a flip-flopper I hope McCain gets destroyed for his shameful maneuvers.

That's the exact same argument CoolTrick used.

Basically, what they want is for Obama to be pummeled by the opposition carte blanche and not allow Obama to criticize his opponents one bit.

Apparently dissecting the policy views of the opponent is a no-no, but it's fair-game to take a shit on Obama's head because he shook some dude's hand 10 years ago.

To me these "new politics" have more to do with important issues, like taking lobbyist money, and not pissy political comments on the opposition. Obama would have a lot to live up to if he becomes president, and if he doesn't I could see him being a one term president. But considering the first black president only served one term and was fuck awesome, who knows

He probably "cherry-picked" both comments, but his two points - 1) McCain supports an indefinite occupation of Iraq and 2) McCain's economic policy is essentially Bush's economic policy - both ring true, no matter how much APF and Branduil feign indignation.

It's more like, "we've been in the political shitter for a number of years with the 'real world' effects now starting to hit us in the face...man, this guy's speeches, his platform, and his story feel the most diametrically opposed to all the wrong turns that have led us here 'til now."

It's mighty interesting how the Republicans can enact 7 years of policy that negatively affects middle America yet somehow bullshit those most affected into believing that they're somehow more in touch with "traditional values" than the opposing party. It reminds me of the Christian Hard Rock episode of South Park.
